The short version
- Your checker answers are never sent to us or stored. The checker works entirely inside your web browser. Your answers and your result exist only on your device and disappear when you close or refresh the page.
- We do not collect your immigration status, criminal record, health information or any other details from the checker.
- We only store an email address if you choose to sign up for updates, together with a record of your consent. We do not link it to your answers or your result.
- If you use our contact form, we store your name, email address and message so we can reply.
- We do not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers.
Who we are
ILR Checker (ilrchecker.co.uk) is an independent information website run by [OWNER NAME OR COMPANY NAME], the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. [ICO registration number: ZXXXXXXX.] ILR Checker is not part of, or connected to, the Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration or GOV.UK.
You can contact us about this policy or your data using our contact form.
The settlement checker
The checker asks questions about your visa route, dates, earnings, use of public funds, immigration history, criminal record, debts, English and the Life in the UK test. All of the processing happens in your browser using code on the page.
- Your answers are not sent to our servers or to anyone else.
- Your answers and result are not saved in cookies, local storage or anywhere else on your device.
- If you use “Download or print my report”, your browser creates the file on your own device. We never see it.
Because we never receive this information, we cannot see, recover, share or delete it.

Who processes your data for us
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They only process data on our instructions.
- Netlify, Inc. hosts the website and receives submissions from our signup and contact forms. Like all web hosts, Netlify’s servers record basic technical information such as IP addresses in server logs for security and to keep the site running.
- [EMAIL SERVICE PROVIDER, for example Brevo or MailerLite] stores our email list and sends our update emails.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards permitted by UK data protection law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the International Data Transfer Addendum.
Cookies and tracking
ILR Checker does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking tools. If this changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct or delete it
- withdraw your consent to emails at any time
- object to or ask us to restrict how we use it
To use any of these rights, use our contact form. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Our email updates are intended for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before signing up.
